#Top factors for libraries when choosing an OA strategy
As part of De Gruyter’s continued efforts to support and advance open access, an online session was held on how the Subscribe to Open (S2O) model may be the answer to a sustainable transition to open access. The webinar featured a moderator and speakers from Xiamen University, Australian National University, Annual Reviews, AIP Publishing and De Gruyter Brill to explore in detail the ins and outs of the S2O model for an open access future.
If you missed the live webinar but are interested in what was discussed, we've summarised it all for you to read at your convenience.
Key moment #1
Roxanne Missingham shared the six factors that can affect the OA strategy of a library:
◾Attainability
◾Affordability
◾Sustainability
◾Security
◾Quality
◾Flexibility
Key moment #2
Richard Gallagher from Annual Reviews elaborated on how an experiment to open up content during the COVID period led to a surprisingly positive result, steering the publishing house towards the S2O route.
Key moment #3
Representing De Gruyter Brill, Ben Ashcroft emphasised that S2O is mainly about sustainability, rather than exponential growth of revenue. It is a model that will continue to evolve as more conversations take place between the stakeholders (publishers, libraries and researchers).
